Emma - playful ragdoll
AVAILABLE FOR HOUSESITTING (view my aussiehousesitters profile here for availability)
I have lived in Brisbane now for a few years and have never taken the opportunity to visit Toowoomba, so one of the first ads I saw the day I signed up to Aussiehousesitters was just a weekend sit in that area.
Karys.
I was still living in my home till the end of March, but thought, why not apply and see if this sit is still available and head away for the weekend if it was. Toowoomba only an easy hour and a half drive away.
Being only a couple of days away before the sit started I still took the opportunity to contact
the homeowner and offer my ‘sitting’ services. Fortunately for me, she had just had the sitter that was already booked, cancel on her, so two days after signing up, a
nd after a quick phonecall chat, I found myself heading to Toowoomba for a weekend sit for the two cats. A nice entry into the world of sitting.
Driving through the fog and
arriving a half hour or so before she was due to leave so we could have a quick chat and go over feeding schedules etc, Meg, was just lovely. And the delightful cottage home, filled with motivational quotes had such a peaceful feel. I had my own room to sleep in and permission to look through /read the books (oh I’m a fan!) of which there was plenty.
Beautiful little ragdoll kitten, Em, being only 6 months old was such a delight to play with for the weekend. Playful and adventurous 🙂 Carys, the older cat a little more shy and kept more to herself, though of course dinnertime, was right nearby and ready to eat! Queen of her castle 😉
And. I got to explore Toowoomba! Walking to and around Queens Park, and Tabletop Mountain, camera in hand, a photography delight.
And also discovering the art gallery – where I was given a most amazing experience – with white hand gloves, looking at and turning the pages books centuries old and chatting to a curator there one on one for well over an hour on the history of many! Certainly if I lived in the area a place I would head to often.
Emma - the gorgeous ragdoll kitten
And though not the flower festival season, which Toowoomba is best known for, the flower displays in (so many) parks was still astonishingly colourful and in abundance.
I cannot wait to visit the area again, and hopefully get to see Em and Carys again too.

“Ann I found to be a wonderful friendly lady who provided great service. Ann truly loves cats which is what I was looking for. Thank you Ann for leaving my house looking untouched (very tidy) and also for your little touches such as cleaning my kitchen sink till it was sparkling :-). Much appreciated. Ann also communicated with me while away sending a few texts and photos to reassure me and provided ID since we did not know each other and an extra sense of security. I highly recommend Ann.” Meg, Toowoomba Q
The ad I responded to:
Hi. I have a small older but comfortable cottage in East Toowoomba available for weekends throughout the year as well as several week or two week blocks when taking annual leave.
Ideally would suit someone who likes visiting this region throughout the year and loves housesitting and is s genuine cat lover. Would suit a single person or quiet couple.
I have 2 cats, Carys & Emma. Emma is still a kitten and Carys 6. It is preferred if you have references or are willing to provide ID. I’m looking for responsible person/s who will take care of my home such as bins & collect mail etc, but no major jobs need doing other than care of the cats. They love cuddles:-).
The house is situated close to Queens Park and walking distance to city centre. Webb park with view of the mountains only a short walk away also. Toowoomba is a really gorgeous spot to visit and surrounds. If interested please contact me anytime & the easiest way I find is text. Thank you
