Photographer's, take creative ICM photos like a pro!!
A workshop of photographic discovery, creating unique visual art with ICM
(intentional camera movement)

We spend a lot of time learning how to NOT move the camera when taking pictures; to make sure they are pin sharp and strongly focused. ICM - teaches us to do the complete opposite!
Typically recorded as a blur of light and texture across the frame ICM gives such a visionary freedom. The blur might completely obliterate all detail, or it may simply blur a portion of the frame. The technique can provide you with a wonderful, creative, and unexpected outcome.

And, its ADDICTIVE!

In this exciting hands-on session we will settle into a strong couple of hours of mindful ICM photography and you will :

  • produce artistic and creative images with the very deliberate application of moving the camera.

  • walk around, discover and shoot, various colours and textures and compositions that can be used successfully with an ICM technique.

  • learn zooming and panning techniques and use various settings to create intriguing and creative images.

  • learn how different movements and shutter speeds work.

Be prepared to take a lot of images, and, to delete a lot of images - learning what works and what doesn't!
We will also throw in a 30 minute challenge to have fun with what we have learned, ensuring you have grasped the skills so you can head home armed with innovative ideas to continue building your ICM library.
Practice! Experiment, make mistakes and wonder! Become inspired by what you see and explore the excitement in creating such unique imagery!

Are you ready to explore and become obsessed with this style too!?

What do I need to bring?
Travel light. Your DSLR camera! And a zoom lens. And that's it. Whilst using a tripod can be another useful tool and technique for this workshop you won't need a tripod for this session. We will be walking around a fair bit and discovering unique areas to trial our newfound skills.
If you have an ND filter (4-10) bri
ng it/them along.
Make sure your battery/ies are fully charged! Yes, I've made that
mistake ;)
A water bottle! Hydrate, regularly. :)

What do I wear?
Comfy clothes and shoes for walking around in!
A low to moderate level of fitness. We will be walking around, but plenty of rest or sitting along the way while we 'shoot'.
If sunny, a hat and sunscreen. Though we will try to be mostly in shaded/darker areas there will be short bouts where we are in the sunshine walking.

What if it's raining?
Kismet! How exciting for us to be able to use water as a texture within images. Bring an umbrella.
However, storms are different. We will certainly reschedule if storms or a weather event occurs.

Do I need to know how to use a camera?
Basic knowledge of using manual is useful, however the photography skill levels for this particular workshop are suitable for entry level beginners to intermediate level photographers. The limited number of participants ensures adequate individual attention to every person. We take you on a journey helping you to be more comfortable with your camera’s settings and create amazing images.

Will I get help?
All workshop numbers are capped so you are able to receive personalised one on one guidance and tuition throughout the session. Your OpenroadFootprint workshop host is there to help every step of the way!
